Notice on Completed Research Student

1. Purpose : In order to protect rights, benefits, and privileges of full-time graduate students, “completed research students” are advised to register and take “ Tutorial Research after Completion of Course Work” as follows.
▶ To provide opportunities to participate such as national projects
▶ To grant research promotion scholarship complying with the restriction on appointment of course completed students as assistants
▶ To promote efficiency in education management given continuous thesis guidance
▶ To come up to related regulations of other major universities in south Korea
2. Effective Date : This notice comes into effect from 2014 Spring Semester (including students ready to finish the degree course as well as those who already completed)
3. Definition
A. Completed Research Students
Students those who have completed all necessary courses for the given degree programs and sign up for Tutorial Research after Completion of Course Work
B. C ourse Completed Graduate Students
Those who have completed all necessary courses for the given degree programs but failed to fulfill any of requirements as completed research graduate students
4. Registration and Restriction of Rights
A. All completed research students in the semester for tutorial research after course work are required to pay the tuition fee, which is 2% of general graduate school division’s tuition. The tuition fee for those who are in the semester for thesis submission and examination is 7% of general graduate school division’s tuition.

B. There is limitation on the exercise of rights for course completed graduate students, such as using research facilities, participating in research activities, and re-issuing student ID card. However, limitation of using research facilities in KU is suspended for one year (2014).
5. Tutorial Research after Completion of Course Work
A. Students are required to register every spring or fall semester complying with the academic schedule, and those students should register T utorial Research after Completion of Course Work (DKK-600 ) on their own, which is guided by his or her tutor professor.
B. DKK-600 is no-credit course, and the result will be graded as P(pass) or F(fail) during the record input period. Only P(pass) grade will appear on students’ transcripts or grade reports.
6. Changes in Registration
A. All graduate students completed course works can maintain the status of “completed research students” if they register every semester until the semester for thesis examination. Otherwise, the status can be changed to “course completed graduate students.”
B. Completed research students can take temporary leave of absence if remaining period of the leave is still available, and those under temporary absence must return/re-enroll when the term expires. The status for those who failed to re-enroll within the registration period will be changed to “course completed graduate students.”
