Research Professor Byeong Rok Ko and KU Physics Professor Eunil Wonreport in the Physical Review Letters on the first observation of D0 meson mixing using positron-electron collisions using the Belle detector at KEK in Japan. This mixing originates from the difference between the flavor and mass eigenstates of the meson-antimeson system, and is in line with observations of the same effect at the LHC using a different method. The measurement of these mixing parameters aids in the search for physics beyond the standard model of particle physics.
